Held annually, the conference provides individuals a source of contact and networking unique to the preservation and preparation of anatomical material for education and research.

The conference provides delegates the opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen friendships and professional ties. The conference allows Departments and Schools involved to showcase their facilities and resources while providing a suitable environment for the dissemination of information between colleagues.

The conference also incorporates the AGM.

Workshop – Friday 6th December

The University of Auckland are excited to announce the 2024 hands on workshop, Beyond the Surface: Effective Ultrasound Teaching and Training. The workshop will run until 12pm.

This workshop, co-organized by Seb Barfoot, a professional teaching fellow and co-author of the book chapter Implementation of Ultrasound in Anatomy Education, highlights how ultrasound can be effectively integrated into anatomical teaching. Designed for both educators and technical staff, the workshop emphasizes the collaborative efforts needed to enhance learning experiences. Participants will gain insights into the pedagogical and technical aspects of ultrasound, with a special focus on how technical teams can assist in setup, troubleshooting, and facilitating smaller tutorials or labs.

The hands-on workshop will probably feature three key activities: Musculoskeletal (MSK), Abdominal (Abdo), and Cardiovascular (Cardio) scans. With multiple hands-on MSK stations, participants will get direct experience, while the Abdo and Cardio stations will offer guided demonstrations.

The session will also highlight technical support aspects, such as:

      • Demonstrating different ultrasound machines.
      • Setting up wireless devices and screens to improve group learning.
      • Ensuring smooth lab operations, including the setup of gurneys and disposables.

Whether you’re an educator looking to enhance your teaching methods or a technician interested in the practical aspects of ultrasound setup, this workshop provides valuable insights and hands-on opportunities.
